Tool Manager

Job Description

 

Summary:  
The Tool Manager acts to ensure machine and production efficiency by preparing the necessary tools and programs, while purchasing and organizing tools and set-ups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Purchase necessary tools and supplies for production.

  • Prepare toolkits and paperwork for machine production.

  • Organize programs and set-up kits.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work place.

  • Assist operators in acquiring necessary tool replacements.

  • Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.

  • Recognize tool needs and inconsistencies.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Competency:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of welding techniques

  • Able to read and understand mechanical drawings and weld prints

  • Strong knowledge of basic math

  • Ability to recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options

  • Good communication and organizational skills

          
Education/Experience:
A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. 0-2 years of relevant experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position operates mainly independently, needs ability to prioritize and update as necessary.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
