Job Description

 

Summary:  
The Shop Foreman acts as the Liaison between production and production planning. They play an important role in motivating, training, enforcing company policies, and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned.

  • Ensure security of facilities during designated shift hours.

  • Enforce all safety and processing procedures.

  • Enable effective communications between management and operators.

  • Train new employees and coach existing employees.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work place.

  • Investigate and report all incidents (spills, accidents, poor performance, NCM).

  • Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.

  • Motivate others to meet demands established by the production schedule.

  • Perform product final, in-process and post outside processing inspections and record results on the appropriate forms as required.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Requirements:
Candidate must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on machined parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.  The inspections will be performed to engineering requirements per customer specification.  Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and perform necessary calculations. The candidate must have experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers, calipers, comparator, and CMM. Strong experience performing First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9100 standard and knowledge of applicable industry standards. Must be proficient with AS9100.  Ideal candidate will have minimum 3-5 years of experience performing inspections in aerospace or military-defense manufacturing with proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma or GED required.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Computer skills/knowledge required including but not limited to; e-mail, MS Office suite, MRP/ERP/Inventory control software, etc.

Certificates and Licenses:
No certifications needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does have limited supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather). The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
